The following are the Service/Outreach and Stewardship Ministries at San Francisco Solano Parish:

Advent Giving Tree

This is a Christmas outreach to local families through six Orange County agencies.  A core team of parishioners coordinates the project from September through December.  Parishioners participate through the purchase of 1,750 specific new gift items and certificates.

Ancillary projects include Christmas Card on a Box painting day, Stocking Stuffing, and Ornament Preparation.

Bereavement Team

Bereavement ministers share with the pastoral staff the responsibility to bring Christ’s comfort to the grieving.  They offer funeral planning assistance, hospitality, vigil prayer coordination, funeral-day assistance, and follow-up to families of those buried from San Francisco Solano parish.

Catholic Worker

On the 4th and 5th Sundays of each month, parishioners travel to Santa Ana to join others in serving the guests of  Isaiah House, a Catholic Worker House of Hospitality.  They assist in meal preparation and serving, engaging guests in conversation, and entertaining children through stories, games, and crafts.

Corazon

Corazon serves families in Tijuana, Mexico.  A parish core team coordinates a house building day and a coat and blanket drive.  Parishioners participate by donating time  and skills on guild day, donating blankets and coats during the drive, and providing financial support.

Meal Ministry

Meal ministers provide meals for individuals or families who are dealing with acute or chronic illneess, are in a time of transition, or who are coping with the absence of the regular meal provider.  Ministers are usually asked to prepare a meal 4 or 5 times a year.

Parish Finance Council

As an advisory and consultative body, the San Francisco Solano Parish Finance Council assists the pastor in providing good stewardship of parish financial resources, ensuring that sufficient resources are available and allocated appropriately to carry out the pastoral mission of the parish.

Prayer Group Ministry

Come join us in prayer! The San Francisco Solano Prayer Group gathers each month to pray for our parish and community’s intentions. Throughout the month the prayer group ministry also prays for the intentions received via email from parishioners, family, friends, or       co-workers.  Come join us in prayer the first Wednesday of each month at 7 PM.

Prison Ministry

Every day nearly 5,000 Catholics call Orange County jails and juvenile facilities home.  The Bible calls us to visit those in prison (Matt 25:36). How about you? Can you spare a couple hours each month to visit our incarcerated brothers and sisters, sons and daughters?

SFS Food Bank

The SFS Community Food Bank offers assistance to local residents by distributing groceries (parishable and non-parishable) to those who need them.  Support of the food bank comes from donations and supplemental funding from San Francisco Solano parish.  Food distribution takes place on Saturdays, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.  For volunteer opportunities please call the parish office.

St. Veronica’s Guild

This is a homeless laundry ministry.  Volunteers wash laundry for the homeless women living at the Catholic Worker House.

Welcome Ministry

This group meets monthly to phone newly registered individuals or families in our parish.  Ministers offer an overview of the parish and try to answer questions newcomers may have.  This group also hosts welcoming events to newcomers.
